Promotion of Kacarov’s Poetry Collection in Sofia
Events Abroad : 

(Vest, 10.03.2010) - Poetry collection “Slobodoumni” (Free Minded) by Trajce Kacarov, will be promoted in Sofia-based library “Nadezda” on Wednesday evening. Tanja Popova translated Kacarov’s poetry in Bulgarian language, saying in the preface he is a modern Balkan author, who could be seen as an avant-garde Western European writer.

Pantomimists from Europe, America and Japan at Skopje Festival
Festivals : 

(Vecer, 10.03.2010) - Performance “All Five” of Dan Puric Company from Romania will mark the start of this year’s international festival of pantomime and physical theatre “PANPHYS 2010” in the Macedonian National Theatre (MNT) on Friday evening at 20,00h. Pantomimists from Europe, America and Japan will take the stage in the course of the five festival days, including eight performances. The festival is funded by the Ministry of Culture.

Gorjan Tozija Elected President of Film Workers’ Association

Zarko Trajanoski Wins “Borjan Tanevski” Award

(Vest, 10.03.2010) - Political analyst and columnist Zarko Trajanoski is the winner of this year’s “Borjan Tanevski” award for prominent personal stance in printed media. “The majority of my columns are motivated by slogan ‘Reassess Authority’. I try to wake up the humiliated citizen, to find the silent voice of the individual”, said Trajanoski at Tuesday’s award presentation ceremony.

MANU Declares Marjan Petreski, Petre Makreski Young Scientists of the Year

(Vest, 10.03.2010) - Petre Makreski and Marjan Petreski have been declared young scientists of 2009 by the fund for young scientists “Vita Pop-Jordanova” within the Macedonian Academy of Sciences and Arts (MANU). Makreski and Petreski have been rewarded for their achievements in the field of chemistry and economics in the past three years.

Small Cinema in Museum of Macedonia

(Vest, 10.03.2010) - A small cinema has been opened in the Museum of Macedonia, intended for visual presentation of Macedonia’s rich cultural heritage through ethnological films. Besides Museum films, the cinema repertoire will also include documentaries from the Macedonian Cinematheque.

Ethnology : 

(Vecer, 10.03.2010) - Exhibition of old Macedonian folk costumes created by Blagorodna Doneva are displayed in the lobby of Veles national theatre “Jordan Hadzi Konstantinov Dzinot”. The exhibition includes 35 male, female and children’s costumes from all parts of Macedonia, as well as souvenirs characteristic for the Veles region. The exhibition will be open by mid-March.

Premiere of Film “An Imaginary Friendship in the City of Kafka”
Film : 

(Vest, 10.03.2010) - Premiere of film “An Imaginary Friendship in the City of Kafka”, directed by Konstantin Plevnes, produced by University for Audio-Visual Arts ESRA Paris-Skopje-New York, will be held in cinema “Frosina” within the Youth-Cultural Center on Wednesday evening at 20,00h. Two young Europeans are the film’s protagonists – a Greek and Macedonian, who discuss the countries’ future in the European Union while strolling through Prague.

(Vecer, 08.03.2010) - The Bitola Theatre ensemble is currently preparing two premieres. Besides comedy “The Deceased” by Branislav Nusic, directed by Ljupco Georgievski, performance “The Maids” by Jean Genet, directed by Ivan Jercic is also in preparation.

Macedonian Culture in Estonia

(Vecer, 09.03.2010) - Culture Ministry State Secretary Darko Stefanovski will present the Macedonian program at event “Tallinn- 2011 Culture Capital” in the next couple of days. The visit also aims at strengthening bilateral cultural cooperation, along with talks on a conclusion of an official document regulating cultural ties between the two countries.

Macedonian Books in U.S. Congress Library

(MIA, 06.03.2010) - The Macedonian books' collection in the U.S. Congress library is the largest beyond Macedonia's borders. "Macedonian books and magazines are obtained in two ways - through purchase of titles and library exchange with Macedonia's renowned institutions", senior librarian Predrag Pajic, who has worked in the European reading room and the South-Slavic collection for 20 years, told Voice of America in Macedonian Language.

Exhibition of Blagoja Nikolovski in “Art Kitchen”
Visual Arts : 

(Vest, 09.03.2010) - Exhibition of painter Blagoja Nikolovski will open in Skopje gallery “Art Kitchen” on Tuesday evening at 20,00h. “Seeing the magnificence of art from times past, Nikolovski has managed to recognize his own image, which often involves the man of today”, says artist Vladimir Georgievski about Nikolovski’s works. Blagoja Nikolovski (1944) graduated at the Skopje-based School of Applied Arts, followed by studies in Paris. He has exhibited in Skopje, Banja Luka, Belgrade, New Delhi, Zagreb, Zadar, Tuzla, Paris, Copenhagen, Bonn etc, winning a number of domestic and international awards.

Fingerprints in Hristijan Sanev’s Works

(Vest, 05.03.2010) - Exhibition of graphics-lithographs by Hristijan Sanev titled “Fingerprints of the Presence” will open in the Skopje Museum on Friday evening at 20,00h. “Fingerprint is a drawing depicting the human’s intimate geography. Its imperfections give it a unique character”, says Sanev. Hristijan Sanev lives and works in Paris. He has exhibited in Japan, USA, Egypt and Argentina. Sanev is a member of the Macedonian and French artists’ associations.

(Vecer, 05.03.2010) - The 20th edition of event “Woman-Symbol and Inspiration” will be held in gallery KO-RA within Skopje-based home of culture “Koco Racin” on Friday evening at 20,00h. Poet Goran Ancevski is the performance author, whereas sculptor Aneta Bozinovska will also present her artworks, along with a monologue by actress Marina Pop Pankova.
