Supported by the Film Fund, the film took part in ZagrebDocs PRO, and has been selected for the market in the Balkan Documentary Centre Workshop.

“Brothers” of Jim Sheridan in “Millennium”

(Vest, 02.07.2010) - U.S. hit film “Brothers” of director Jim Sheridan, with Jake Gyllenhaal, Natalie Portman and Tobey Maguire in the leading roles, is on the repertoire of Skopje cinema “Millennium” as of Friday. The story focuses on events during the military intervention in Afghanistan and their effect on family and emotional relations.

Short Film Supported by SEE Cinema Network
Film : 

(Vest, 29.06.2010) - Short film “Spark” by Tomislav Aleksov, produced by “Nase Maalo”, has been supported with a grant by the Southeast Europe Cinema Network. Network member-states applied with two projects each, with the grant amounting to EUR 8,000.

(Vest, 21.06.2010) - Short film titled “The Son” by young Macedonian director Marko Djokovic has been completed following last week’s filming at several Skopje locations. The film is based on a story by renowned U.S. author Charles Bukowski, referring to the alienation of a forgotten youth.

The event is organized by Turkey’s Embassy to Macedonia, supported by TIKA-Turkish agency for cooperation and development in Skopje, Turkish cultural center “Yunus Emre”, “Ramstore” and “Premium Film”.

(Vest, 25.05.2010) - Projection of documentary “Small Format” of Vladimir Petek on Tuesday evening at 20,00h marks the beginning of film cycle “Croatian Film: Days of Croatian Cinematheque” in the Macedonian Cinematheque. “Skopje 63” of Veljko Bulajic will be screened afterwards, showing not only the effects of the catastrophic earthquake in Skopje, but also the solidarity and aid for the city from the entire world.

Macedonian Producer Plans to Shoot Film on Homosexuals’ Rights – Anastasov Will Work with Director of “Pretty Village, Pretty Flame”

(Vecer, 18.05.2010) – Producer Vladimir Anastasov, the Macedonian representative at Cannes within the Producers on the Move Project, says he will work on a new film with the Serbian director, Srgjan Dragojevic, the author of famous films such as “Pretty Village, Pretty Flame" (Lepa sela lepo gore), “We Are Not Angels,” “St. George Kills the Dragon.” “The screenplay is written by Dragojevic and titled ‘Parade.’ Co-production between Croatia, Macedonia, Serbia and Germany is planned.

(Vest, 03.05.2010) - Films within cycle “Days of European Film” will be screened in the Macedonian Cinematheque on May 3-9. The program starts Monday with “I, Don Giovanni” of Carlos Saura at 20,00h, preceded by “Unconscious” of Joaquin Oristrell at 18,00h. The cycle is supported by the European Union Office to Skopje.

Cinematographer Ljube Petkovski Receives “Golden Camera Lens” Award

(MIA, 27.04.2010) - Doyen of Macedonian cinematography Ljube Petkovski (b.1924) was awarded Monday by the Macedonian Cinematheque with “Golden Camera Lens” award for outstanding achievements in Macedonia’s film industry. Throughout his career he has worked at about 100 feature and documentary films and has received high recognitions at international festivals.

Oscar Winner István Szabó to Visit Skopje

(Vecer, 31.03.2010) - One of the greatest directors in film history, Oscar laureate István Szabó will visit Skopje, where the Macedonian Cinematheque will present him with a plaque for outstanding contribution in world cinematography. According to the Cinematheque director Mimi Gjorgovska-Ilievska, the Hungarian director will arrive in Skopje on April 19 and stay for 2-3 days.

The Last Temptation of Christ

New Film Classic in Cinematheque

(MIA, 30.03.2010) - "Step Ahead of Others - New Film Classic" is the new film cycle of the Macedonian Cinematheque, beginning with "Short Cuts" (1993) of Robert Altman on April 1, followed by projections on April 2-3. French-Spanish film "Live Flesh" (1997) of director Pedro Almodovar will be screened on April 6-7, "The Last Temptation of Christ" (1988) by Martin Scorsese on April 8-9, "The People vs. Larry Flynt" (1996) of Milos Forman on April 10-11, German-US "K-Pax" (2001) of Iain Softley on April 13-14, and "Ride with the Devil" (1999) by Ang Lee on April 15-16. The cycle will end with Michael Winterbottom's "Butterfly's Kiss" (1995) on April 17-18.

Week of Francophone Film in Cinematheque

(MIA, 22.03.2010) - Film "Summer Hours" (2008) of Olivier Assayas will open Monday the Week of Francophone Film in Macedonian Cinematheque. The revue, which will last until Saturday, includes five other films in French language from France, Switzerland, Senegal, Belgium and Romania. The Week of Francophone Film is organized by Skopje-based French cooperation center "Jean Monnet", Cinematheque, embassies of Romania and Switzerland, as well as Wallonie-Bruxelles International.

“Percy Jackson & The Olympians: The Lightning Thief” at Millennium

(Vecer, 19.03.2010) – “Percy Jackson & The Olympians: The Lightning Thief” starring Pierce Brosnan and Uma Thurman is included in the programme of the Millennium Cinema as of today. Chris Columbus’ film tells a story about gods of Mount Olympus and assorted monsters that have walked out of the pages of high school student Percy Jackson's Greek mythology texts and into his 21-century life. And they're not happy: Zeus' lightning bolt has been stolen, and Percy is the prime suspect.

Zeka’s only son died in the war. He lives in a home filled with women. The sorrow for the lost son threatens his common sense. He starts to hope that his son is alive and would come back home soon. Zeka waits for his dead son, whereas the youngest daughter Hana waits Zeka to again be her father.

Scorsese’s “Shutter Island” in Skopje

(Vecer, 26.02.2010) – Martin Scorsese’s new film “Shutter Island” that opened recently at the Berlin Film Festival, is on the programme of the Ramstore cinema as of today. The films tars Leonardo di Caprio and this is the actor’s fourth cooperation with the famous director. Last week, “Shutter Island” aroused turmoil in the US movie theatre winning the box-office record with 3,338,000 dollars in a weekend in which “Avatar” won 1,275,000 dollars.
