Events : 

(MIA, 06.09.2010) - US Slav expert, Dr. Victor Friedman, diplomat Srgjan Kerim and sculptor Tome Serafimovski will be handed Mother Theresa's Poslanie za Íumanost today, the day of Mother Theresa's death. The award is bestowed by Skopje Native Mother Theresa Civil Association, and the event will be addressed by Macedonian Academy of Sciences and Arts President Gjorgi Stardelov.

Turkish Donation to Museum of Macedonia

(Dnevnik, 23.07.2010) - The Museum of Macedonia and TIKA non-governmental organisation for improvement of Turkish culture in Macedonia signed a Cooperation Protocol yesterday at the Museum. The protocol relates to donation of euro 20,000 that will be used to reconceive a part of the permanent historical setting in the Museum - the Ottoman period.

With Matica, Tri, Kultura - Summer Book Fair in Bitola

(Utrinski vesnik, 22.07.2010) - A summer book fair has been opened at the Magnolia Square in Bitola. "Unlike last year, we have a number of publishers participating including Tri, Kultura, Matica makedonska, Feniks, Martina and others. Readers are offered latest and attractive titles, translated literature of foreign authors, fiction, books for children and illustration books, as well as professional literature," says Ilce Stojanovski of St. Kliment Ohridski University Library in Bitola, the organiser of the event.

Ohrid Gets Longest Sculpture in the World

(Dnevnik, 14.07.2010) – A wooden 172-meter long sculpture in form of an eel has been placed in the water of Lake Ohrid. The sculpture was promoted two days ago in a show organised to mark the opening of the Ohrid Summer.

Denes Award Handing Ceremony Today

(Utrinski vesnik, 13.07.2010) – Denes 2010, an award bestowed to a young under 35 artist by the Center for Modern Art in collaboration with the Foundation for Civic Society, will be handed for the eighth time at the Museum of the City of Skopje at 8:00 p.m. today. The award enables presentation of creativity of young artists and creates new opportunities for the winners and finalists’ further professional development.

“Alter” on Petar Hadzi Boskov on Television AB Channel’
Events : 

(Vecer, 05.07.2010) – A new edition of a famous programme broadcast on AB Channel, “Alter 57” is dedicated to sculptor Petar Hadzi Boskov. A retrospective exhibition of the sculptor’s works was opened in the National Gallery of Macedonia, Mala Stanica, on 1st June where a monograph on his sculptures written by Konca Pirkoska was promoted.

Posthumous Order of Merit for Professor Krume Kepeski
Events : 

(MIA, 02.07.2010) - President Gjorge Ivanov presented Thursday a posthumous Order of Merit for Macedonia to professor Krume Kepeski – author of the first Macedonian grammar. The order is awarded for the outstanding achievement throughout his career, thus giving huge contribution to the promotion and affirmation of the Macedonian standard language.

Ukraine Decorates Macedonian Nationals

(MIA, 30.06.2010) - Zoran Lalic and Jovica Gjuricic were presented Tuesday with second-degree decorations from Ukraine’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs for their outstanding contribution to the development of Ukraine-Macedonia relations in the economic, cultural and humanitarian fields. The decorations are presented on occasion of June 28-Day of Ukraine’s Constitution.

Gathering on St.Naum in Ohrid

(Vest, 30.06.2010) - The Macedonian Academy of Sciences and Arts (MANU) organizes a formal gathering on occasion of the 1,100th anniversary from St.Naum Ohridski’s death in Ohrid-based House of Robevci on Wednesday evening at 19,00h. MANU president Georgi Stardelov will address the gathering, whereas academicians Petar Ilievski and Cvetan Grozdanov will refer to St.Naum’s life and work.

Cultural Summer at Tri Krusi

(Vest, 18.06.2010) - The fifth edition of culture-entertainment event “Cultural Summer Tri Krusi 2010” begins in the amphitheatre of center “Tri Krusi” in village Dracevo on Saturday. A total of 17 events will be held each Friday and Saturday up to August 14, including ensembles and cultural-artistic clubs from Macedonia and abroad, entertainers, theatres and chamber choirs, along with a children’s festival.

(Vest, 17.06.2010) - Humanitarian concert for 31-year-old Bisera Lakinska, who is treated for acute myeloid leukemia, will be held in Kursumli An on Thursday evening at 20,00h. DJ Surbe, Toni Kitanovski and Cerkezi, bands “Ljubojna”, “Superhiks”, “Bei the Fish”, “Foltin” and DJ Piggy will perform at the concert. The concert is organized by NGO “BeLiveStrong”, association for enhancement of life. Gane Todorovski Honoured at Commemorative Session

(MIA, 27.05.2010) - A commemorative session honouring Macedonian poet, translator, literary critic and essayist Gane Todorovski, who passed away at the age of 81 in Skopje this weekend, was held in the Macedonian Academy of Sciences and Arts (MANU) on Wednesday. MANU president, academician Georgi Stardelov stressed Todorovski’s death represented an enormous loss, since he was “the poetic conscience of our country and our people”.

Workshop with Designer Grass at Art Institute

(Vecer, 19.04.2010) – Dutch renowned designer David Grass is creating cardboard sculptures together with Macedonian young artists and students within Be CreActive, Design Your Future City Festival marking the National Day of the Netherland – The Queen Day. The workshop is running through 30 April at the premises of the Art Institute and the items produced will be exhibited in a selling show with the proceeds intended for an intensive care unit with the University Clinic for Children Surgery.

ICOMOS Marks Day of World Heritage

Turkish Cultural Centre Opens in Skopje

(MIA, 29.03.2010) - Foreign Minister Ahmet Davutoglu opened late Friday in Skopje Turkish Cultural Centre 'Yunus Emre'. The Centre will promote the Turkish state, language, history, culture and art. “It will contribute to bringing closer the Turkish and Macedonian nation, affirming the cultures of both countries”, Davutoglu said at the opening ceremony. According to him, Skopje is a cultural, scientific center of the Balkans, and the new institution would add to this role of the Macedonian capital.

Two Centuries since Dimitar Miladinov’s Birth

(Vecer, 22.03.2010) – A tribute dedicated to 200 years since the birth of Dimitar Miladinov, Macedonian great reformer will be held in Braka Miladinovci Culture Centre in Struga at 11:00 a.m. today. The ceremony will be addressed by prominent scholars and historians and some of popular poems compiled by Miladinov will be recited. Every action Miladinov and his followers took was directed to introduction of the Macedonian language in schools and church service.

The Macedonian cultural web-site, the best in 2001 - Entrance in the international cultural networks

(Utrinski vesnik, 19.01.2002) - The web-site of the Ministry of Culture is announced as best Macedonian web-site, for 2001 in the category Culture and Art in the annual poll of the IT magazine PlugIn. According to the opinion of the expert jury and according to the votes of the audience, the first place with 32 percents of the votes went to this web-site, developed by the NGO “Junona-Power of Young Women”, after which follow the sites of “Blesok” (Shine), the video club ex-Alek, and on the fourth and the fifth place are “Templum” and “Ohrid at your fingertips”.
