Sar Planina Association Prepares for the Ilinden Jubilee in Belgrade - Zafir Hadzimanov Will Perform in Australia for Ilinden Observance

Zafir Hadzimanov
(Vecer, 09.07.2003) - A few folk and pop singers from the Macedonian show business including Zafir and Vasil Hadzimanov are travelling to Australia to take part in the events organized in honour to 100 Years of Ilinden Uprising. “This time, I am travelling to Australia together with Vasil and many other very good colleagues,” says Hadzimanov Senior on their trip to Australia. “We will try to give a grandiose concert at the Sidney Opera House and three more similar concerts in Melbourne and Wolongong. I have the honour, but it is also my duty, to be the co-scriptwriter, co-director, host and singer, so I will have to leave for Sidney before everybody else. But I promise to do the best to make a top-class concert. In a word, to make the Australian audience see a lot of what is the most valuable on the music stage in Macedonia, presented with a masterly approach and image.
Besides these obligations, Hadzimanov is making preparations for the observance of Ilinden in Belgrade, where he has been the chairman of Sar Planina Yugoslav-Macedonian Association for three years now. In the past two years he was the one who wrote the script and hosted and directed the programme of 2001 and 2001 Ilinden Rally.
“I have agreed with Novi Beograd Mayor to set the stage in the most beautiful part of the Sava bank overlooking whole Belgrade, Kalemegdan, Church Temple. Macedonian Embassy is helping me to bring Mirce Acev Folk Ensemble through our Ministry of Culture, and the Serbian Ministry of Culture will make contracts with musicians and singers in Serbia. The Emigration Agency is expected to send us a suitable exhibition and I am making effort to set it in the Museum of Contemporary Art, located in the very vicinity of USSCCE, the place where the Ilinden celebrations will take place. We will make a Macedonian smorgasbord on the river bank with specialties of our bakers from the Bakers’ Union, and a cocktail party for the participants, high-level guests and co-organizers at the USSCCE restaurant. I regret that I will not be here but I will address the rally live from Sidney. My peers at Sar Planina will be assigned special tasks so I am certain that in the end everything will be in the style of the “hymn” of our association - “You can’t run away from love,” says Hadzimanov.
