100-Year Jubilee - Ilinden Observance Ceremony on Internet


(Dnevnik, 10.07.2003) - The central ceremony of the 100th Anniversary of Ilinden Uprising will start on July 27 at the Makedonija Square in Skopje, the starting point of a horse-riding group setting off on an Ilinden march. Along the route, the participants in the march will be met by locals in Veles, Stip, Mavrovo, Kicevo, Prilep, Bitola and the village of Smilevo, where a suitable programme will be organized for them. The 100 riders will be joined by 100 pipe, drum and zurla players and as many folk dancers in Krusevo on August 2. They will all march through the streets of Krusevo in a defile headed towards a historical site, Meckin Kamen.
The central ceremony can be followed anywhere in the world through Internet and the satellite channels of the Macedonian Radio and Television. The broadcast is organized by the Ministry of Culture in collaboration with On.net Internet Provider in Skopje and Macedonian Radio and Television.
“To mark the jubilee in a dignified and solemn way, Macedonian Television will broadcast the programme of the observance ceremony on every available satellite channel. Information should be available in the whole world the moment it happens. On.net has made its technical means and links available to this end. So, the world will be given the opportunity to see the ceremony, Gorjan Tozija, Ministry of Culture State Secretary said yesterday.
