The ensemble of the MNT will perform the same opera in Krusevo on August 1. The Choir, Orchestra and soloists of the Opera will take part in the concert performance, with 12 music pieces being performed. The script writer and director is Branko Stavrev, and Tomislav Sopov is the conductor.
“Ilinden” by Kiril Makedonski was first set 30 years ago on the 70th Anniversary of the Uprising, at the opening ceremony of the May Opera Evenings.
“The most successful parts of the opera will be performed. In over 12 music pieces and anthological verses the audience will sense the most important moments of the Ilinden epopee. We have clung to Makedonski’s libretto which has a documentary approach and encompasses all important dates for the Macedonian history. By visualizing the opera, the essential from both music and verses will be extracted,” director Branko Stavrev says.
According to the conductor Sopov, a “heroic oratory” will be performed on the MNT stage with the basic idea of the undefeatable love of freedom.
“The music language is based on the tradition of Macedonian song. “Ilinden” is a heroic tragedy dedicated to the participants in the epopee, Sopov says.
The ensemble participating in the opera includes: Cvetan Stojanovski, Vesna Ginovska Ilkova, Igor Durlovski, Marjan Nikolovski, Zoran Sotirov, Irena Kavkaleska, Helene Angelovska, Kirju Lijakovski, Lazar Belevski and Riste Velkov. Actors Nikolina Kujaca and Nikola Ristanovski will recite verses by Koneski and Todorovski.
