| Repairs of Monument and Museum Objects in Krusevo Completed - Town of Krusevo Republic in Full Glow for the Jubilee
(Vecer, 31.07.2003) - A series of repairing and restoring activities on monument and museum objects have been carried out in the town of the Krusevo Republic on the eve of the great jubilee, 100 Years of Ilinden. So, complete restoration of the Ilinden Monument has been made and the Foundry has also been reconstructed. The area around the monument to Nikola Karev has also been rearranged.
Ilinden Monument has shone in new light. After the restoration both the interior and exterior are now rearranged. A donation of the US Embassy in Skopje has been used to restore the stain glass and ceramics, the work of Petar Mazev, and repairs of the illumination with inbuilding new illumination items have been made. Some dark places in the monument complex such as chains, the crypt and ceramics have been illuminated giving a completely different impression.
The area around the monument has also been arranged with greenery, as has the memorial park around the monument to Nikola Karev which was almost ruined. The alleys have been tidied now, benches have been installed and the whole area has been fenced.
The Foundry has been completely restored and an exhibition of weapons, “Collectors with Respect to Ilinden,” which opens tomorrow, has already found its home there. The exhibition is practically opening the Foundry Museum.
The exhibition presents 150 - 200 exhibits dating to 17th to 29th centuries. It includes pistols, guns, yataghans and other weapons from private collectors such as Trifun Kostovski, Vladimir Manolev, Ice Popov, Robert Mitevski, and Pance Georgiev as well as the collections of the Museum of Macedonia in Skopje and Krusevo Museum. The weapons from the Ilinden period have been grouped in a separate section.
