| Legendary Smilevo Ahead of Great Ilinden Ceremonies - Foundations of Museum of Smilevo Congress to Be Laid Tomorrow
(Nova Makedonija, 31.07.2003) - Foundations of a new memorial museum dedicated to the Smilevo Congress will be laid tomorrow in honour to the Smilevo Congress and the 100th Anniversary of Ilinden Uprising, the brightest jubilee of the Macedonian people. A mass popular rally is scheduled on this occasion at 10.00 a.m. The historical village will be the venue of another rally in honour to the 60th Anniversary of Prespa Meeting, 59th Anniversary of ASNOM and 61st Anniversary of the first military action of Dame Gruev Division on August 2.
The organizers of the events are Ministry of Culture, Demir Hisar Municipality and Smilevo Local Community. According to the organizers, an exhibition, ”Macedonian Revolutionaries” by the Bitola art pedagogue Aleksandar Nanevski will open on Saturday, and a delegation of Bitola and Demir Hisar will lay wreaths on the monument to Ilinden, the mausoleum of Dame Gruev and memorial plaque to Dame Gruev Partisan Division for Bitola and Prespa areas. Rich cultural and artistic programme and free bus transport from the Epinal Hotel in Bitola (Friday and Saturday at 8.30 a.m.) are scheduled for the two rallies.
