| In Veles - Monument to Gemidzijas by Stanko Pavlevski
(Vecer, 05.08.2003) - A Monument to Gemidzijas that was uncovered on August 2 is the work of the artist Stanko Pavlevski. The monument was built on the bank of the Vardar, in the place wherefrom the gemidzijas of Veles departed for Thessalonica and is an unusual composition of 12 stylized and refracted skyward pipes, the symbol of freedom. “We Are Giving Ourselves for Macedonia” is the inscription on the monument as the main motto of the idealist actions taken in April 1903 in Thessalonica by a group of Macedonian youth united around the Gemidzija Circle.
The monument was promoted by Minister of Finance and Vice Prime Minister Petar Gosev.
