| “Ten Days Krusevo Republic” Scientific and Cultural Meetings - Macedonian National Theatre Participates with “White Horses”
(Utrinski Vesnik, 05.08.2003) - A play by the Macedonian National Theatre made on the 100th Anniversary of Ilinden Uprising will be performed on the summer stage in Krusevo within Ten Days Krusevo Republic Scientific and Cultural Meetings at 9.00 p.m. today. The “White Horses” written by Petre Bakevski and directed by Violeta Dzoleva is a play that touches the beginnings of the Ilinden Epopee and reflects the dilemmas and considerations on it. The play is based on facts though it is not an attempt to reconstruct history. It is just a starting point in building the basic idea connected to issues that are a part of our modernity. The counterpoint of historical facts is the drama poetics, the attempt to touch the dream of freedom of the Macedonian people. The play starts from the testimonies and written documents of the main character, the playwright Nikola Kirov Majski who was a direct participant in the Ilinden Uprising and one of the creators of the Krusevo Manifesto. Vehemently and without warning, the play opens some still unclosed issues of the Macedonian history trying in a way to come to the unanswered questions: whether the Ilinden Uprising was a victory or defeat?
The play is carried out with a numerous acting ensemble including: Aleksandar Mikic, Petar Arsovski, Magdalena Rizova Cernih, Aleksandar Sehtanski, Vlado Jovanovski, Vladimir Jacev, Kiril Korunovski, Trajce Gorgiev, Emil Ruben, Vladimir Svetiev, Vladimir Endrovski, Vasil Siskov, Nino Levi, and Jordan Simonov. The stage design is by Valentin Svetozarev and costumes are by Elena Donceva. Music is written by Ljupco Konstantinov.
