| New Issue of Stremez - In Honour to Century-Old Ilinden
(Vecer, 03.09.2003) - The latest issue of the Stremez literary and cultural magazine is dedicated to the 100th Anniversary of the Macedonian greatest revolutionary holiday, Ilinden. On this occasion, many authors refer to the event with their opinions, essays and reviews. Poet Ante Popovski is represented with a poem, “Holy Land,” published under a simplified title “There Is No Other Country Except the Country.” Folk poetry by Macedonian unknown heroes killed in the Ilinden epopee is also published. Nikola Kirov-Majski writes on the eve of the insurrection; Gorgi Stardelov addresses the role of Krste Petkov-Misirkov in Ilinden Uprising; Blagoja Ristevski-Platnar pays tribute to Ilinden heroes in his “Lower Land;” Ferid Muhic speaks of Ilinden and “200 Years Later;” and Gabriela Stojanovska touches “women who grieved waiting for their beloved to return from war” in her story “The Soldier’s Girlfriend.” Further on, Nikola Karev’s fiance, Koca Hadzieva-Taseva is represented with a portrait-photograph, and Trajce Krstevski and Ilindenka Petrusevska write about the mark left by the history of Ilinden and its significance and inspiration for the medium called film.
