On 100th Anniversary of Ilinden Uprising - Anthology of Macedonian Revolutionary Poems Promoted

(Utrinski Vesnik, 16.09.2003) - “The Hero Fell - the Banner Didn’t” is the latest book by Marko Kitevski published recently on the 100th Anniversary of Ilinden Uprising. This is an anthology of Macedonian revolutionary poems and includes about 200 poems dedicated to freedom fighters in Macedonia who accepted their sacrifice to defend the honour and dignity of their motherland and deserved to be reminded of more frequently. In the author’s own words, “this is an anthology dedicated to numberless known and unknown heroes from the Ilinden period. It includes poems about the long-century struggle of the Macedonian people for their national and social freedom. People recorded in poems what attracted their attention, both collective and individual feats. People sang of Momcilo Vojvoda, Marko Krale, Bolen Dojcin and other heroes described in the epic poetry. The popular poem also described the Ilinden period, the organized revolutionary struggle under a revolutionary organization, and World War II when Macedonian people sided with the antifascist coalition and gave their contribution to the great antifascist struggle.
