| Brezovo Cultural Meetings 2003 Honouring Jordan Piperkata and linden Uprising
(MIA, 15.12.2003) - Traditional Brezovo Cultural Meetings 2003 were held in Brezovo on Saturday in honour to 100 Years Ilinden and vojvoda Jordan Piperkata. The event opened with a wreath laying ceremony outside the memorial board, at the house Jordan Piperkata was murdered in on 14th December 1902.
A monograph “Brezovo - Yesterday, Today, Tomorrow” by Zivko A. Popovski and a book “Brezovo: Biography of Rock and Flower” by Trajan Martinoski were promoted within the programme. An exhibition of books and other documents on Ilinden and Brezovo from the private library of Stevo Stepanovski, of the village of Babino, and an exhibition of paintings made during Brezovo 2003 Art Colony were opened. Meetings with the mayors of Demir Hisar, Drugovo and Sopotnica dedicated to the opportunities for economic and cultural development of the three municipalities were also held. The event was closed with a chess simultaneous match between the chess master Dimce Ilievski and chess players from Brezovo.
Jordan Piperkata (Jordan Siljanov) was a vojvoda at the Demir Hisar region who was also active in the Krusevo and Kicevo areas. He was the participant in the Smilevo Congress and took part in the Ilinden Uprising when he was killed on 10th August 1903.
